INTRODUCTION
MBF offers an extensive range of manual and electrical waveguide switches covering the frequency spectrum from 1 to 40 GHz. Many of the switches manufactured within the last 7 years have been incorporated into systems where the optimum in switch performance is reliability is required. MBF waveguide switches have acquired an outstanding reputation for high isolation as well as low insertion loss.

GENERAL INFORMATION
All models employ precision instrument ball bearings. Switching time is 50 milliseconds or less. A unique spring mechanism prevents the rotor from resting in a midpoint position. Indicator circuits are available to enable verification of position. 28 VDC or 115 VAC 60 Hz drivers are standard with current requirements not to exceed 900 milliamps switching and 250 milliamps holding current.

Electrically operated switches are available with either electrical or mechanical hold. In the mechanical hold configuration, a latching mechanism holds the rotor in position after switching. A pulse at least 25 milliseconds wide is required to switch the rotor to the original position. In the electrical hold configuration, it is necessary to keep the driver energized to hold the rotor in its switched position. A spring mechanism returns the rotor to its original position when the driver is de-energized. Electrical hold requires 250 milliamps maximum sustaining current for drivers. For lower current requirements, consult factory.

INTRODUCTION
MBF offers an extensive range of manual and electrical double ridge waveguide switches covering the frequency spectrum from 6.5 GHz to 40 GHz. Many of the switches manufactured within the last ten years have been incorporated into systems where the optimum in switch performance and reliability is required. MBF waveguide switches have acquired an outstanding reputation for high isolation as well as low insertion loss.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Double ridge waveguide switches are available in manual or electrical configurations. All models employ precision instrument ball bearings. Electrically operated switches are offered with either failsafe or latching actuators.

In the latching configuration the driver holds the rotor in position after switching, A 25 millisecond pulse is required for switching. In the failsafe configuration it is necessary to keep the driver energized to hold the rotor in its switched position. A spring mechanism returns the rotor to its original position when the driver is de-energized.

Switching time is 60 milliseconds or less. A unique solenoid design prevents the rotor from resting in a midpoint position. Indicator circuits are available to enable verification of position. Standard drivers are 28 VDC with current requirements on failsafe models not to exceed 900 milliamps switching and 250 milliamps holding current; latching models require 1.5 amp switching current.

Consult factory for lower current requirements as well as pressurized, and hermetically sealed models.
